Why Should Foster Children Have the Option to Remain in the Foster Care?
More and more young persons are remaining in the family home after the age of eighteen. There can be various reasons for this. The cost of living in the UK, and a job marketing that is still in recovery, means that many salaries are not high enough for young adults to leave the family home.
Starting salaries for junior employees are often too low to allow them to move into private accommodation comfortably straight out of the family home. Staying in the family home longer can give young persons an opportunity to save from their first income before moving out on their own. Children coming from foster care should be afforded this opportunity as well, at the start of their adult life.
