Fostering a Muslim child – Muslim foster carers – Muslim foster parents

Hear from an experienced Muslim foster carers

Being a Muslim is absolutely not a barricade to fostering. Here is an experience shared by one of the Islamic Fostering family working with Sunbeam Fostering Agency. Below is what they have said about their fostering journey.

“We had much support and encouragement from all our friends and family in the community when we decided to become foster carers. Throughout our career as Foster Carers they have continued to be actually positive and supportive. We haven’t found that being Muslim has been a barricade to fostering in any way. We respect all the racial differences of the children we look after despite their background, and in turn we get their respect too. We have to mention that Sunbeam Fostering Agency is one of the best and they are very professional and supportive throughout the process. We have found it to be rewarding, motivating, and eventually great to see the difference we can make to children and young people who need a family atmosphere. We would like to Thank Sunbeam Fostering Agency for providing outstanding Support during the whole Fostering Journey.”

Sunbeam Fostering Agency is one of the UK’s largest and most progressive independent fostering agencies. We are working with more than 50 local authorities and every year fostering around 900 children. Most of these children are Muslim and we are trying to place them with Muslim foster families. There is a huge demand of Muslim foster carers and we urge everyone to come forward and help these children in need.

What is Fostering?

Fostering is a way of providing a stable family life for children and young people, who are unable to live with their parents at a point in time. There are many children in need. For more information, please click on the image below:

Fostering allowance

Everybody is entitled to make a living from their work and providing foster care is no different, and the fostering allowance is there to provide you with just that. You can be paid up to from £650 per week per child, however, this depends on the children’s needs (e.g parent and child or children with complex needs).

Once thought of as a voluntary occupation, providing foster care is now considered to be a professional career and it is generally accepted that fostering is a full-time occupation. As with any recognised profession, foster carer’s allowance and fostering fee’s for approved foster carers with IFAs are now quite competitive.

The type and amount of fostering allowance that you receive will depend on the type of foster care that you provide as well as who you work for
