To support you we provide free training, as well as competitive fostering allowances. Fostering children require time, commitment and dedication and as a reward, our foster carers earn a respectable income of around £650 per week per child. This is of course dependent on children’s needs and can vary. Our foster carers also benefit from local support groups where they can meet our experienced foster carers who foster in Lewisham area and share their invaluable experience. They also have access to our extensive support and supervision. We will work with you throughout your fostering career, provide you all the necessary trainings and support you when you need it. At the end our goal is to provide an excellent care to our looked after children and provide them the opportunity to flourish.
We regularly hold information sessions on fostering and other events in your local area and if you feel, you have questions to ask or would like to attend, then why not have a look at our events page to see when we are coming next to you. Alternatively, you can complete a call back request or call us now on 0208 799 0930 and we will be happy to answer your questions, and start you with your fostering journey. Meantime you can also have a look at our guide to foster care and other relevant pages on fostering allowance, types of fostering, steps to becoming foster carers and importantly our FAQs.

What is Fostering? or What is Foster Care? or How to become a Foster Carer?
All children and young people are different, making it difficult to define a “typical child”. However, what you can expect is that, as with any child or young person, they need security, stability and the chance to develop and thrive with carers who understand what is fostering and have empathy for the child’s situation.
To become a foster carer or for further information on what is fostering, please contact us today and we are happy to provide you with the information and support you need.
Why Join Sunbeam?
At Sunbeam we are proud of our standards and the support and training that we provide to our foster carers. We would welcome you to take the opportunity to speak to one of our existing foster carers to hear this first hand.
We have a good record in maintaining placements and this is due to excellent matching process at the placement stage and also that we seek to address any concerns quickly.
Many Local Authorities now have Framework Agreements (determined by a tendering process) and often Sunbeam will be in the top tier of these contracts to ensure that we receive strong referrals levels for placements.
