There’s no time like now!
Many people have expectations of what is required to be a foster carer; middle aged, lots of different life experiences, owns their own home, has children of their own and are married. But these are just some of the common fostering myths and misconceptions that you may have heard about fostering. One of the great things about fostering is that each foster carer is individual, different and unique. Fostering welcomes foster carers from all different walks of life, ages, genders, religions.
Recent statistics show that over 70,000 children have come into care for various reasons. This has been a 3% increase on the previous year. This is why there is an important urge to highlight fostering to many people. Lots of people do not even enquire as they feel for one reason or another that their application would not be successful, there is an urge to minimise these misconceptions and fostering myths and to encourage more people to step forward and begin enquiring.
