Black History Month Sons and Daughters Month

Black History Month & Sons and Daughters Month this October

Black History Month

This October, we are proud to be participating in raising awareness and getting involved in this years Black History Month. Black History Month is celebrated to promote the knowledge of black history, culture, and heritage and to distribute information on their positive contribution to the British society.

Sunbeam Fostering Agency has many carers from black ethnic backgrounds in different regions, demonstrating the ethnic diversity within our agency. Sunbeam receives countless referrals for children of various ethnicities, which therefore enables us to match children appropriately. This month, we would like to celebrate the people in today’s society who have helped tremendously to enable children to continue learning about their heritage and culture. It gives children the opportunity to feel that sense of security and belonging in a home environment.

As we enter Black History Month, the world instinctively reflects and celebrate the positive things within black communities. In black communities that fostering, and adoption is part and parcel of the fabric of the communities; we raise and nurture children that are not our biological children as if they were.

Sons and Daughters Month

Sons and Daughters Month is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to celebrate the vital contribution the children of foster carers make to foster care. Each October, The Fostering Network raises awareness of the important role children of foster carers play in a fostering household. We highlight how much they do for children and young people in care and how vital they are to successful fostering.

This month we will be appreciating all that our foster carers children do for the fostering households, making children and young people who come into their homes safe and comfortable. The children of foster carers share their toys and space to welcome in a child or young person to their family, thank you to all the sons and daughters for everything you do.
